About the Danish Gambling Market

According to the news, the gambling sector of Denmark has grown by almost around 7.7% in the year 2015. However, the major rise is due to its casino gaming and betting. Spillemyndigheden, the regulatory body has highlighted that the total gross revenue of the gambling reached to DKK 8.4 billion for the year, which is a great rise as compared with previous years. It is true that the results of the year 2015 are surprising and encouraging, as the increase between the year 2012 and 2014 remain stagnant at just 3.3%. 

In the final quarter of the year, the revenue of online gambling and sports betting increased by 21% to DKK910 million. Further, the same fissure has grown by 14% to DKK 2.03 billion over the year.  To add on, it is a fact that the revenue of online poker has fallen year on year in 2015 and has reached DKK 165 million. It is somewhere 25% less than the year 2012, the year in which the regulated market was introduced. Moreover, the income of the Denmark’s seven licensed casinos came down to 6% to DKK80m in the fourth quarter of the year. However, the entire total for the year 2015 increased by 5% and reached to DKK340m.
